10 Years Is Long Enough!
Check Out Some Beautiful WHYs from the first 1,200 Petition Signers!
Announcement - February 13, 2026
The 2016 Road and Trail Management Plan (RTMP) for Mount Diablo has been sitting on a shelf for a decade. That’s long enough.
Help us establish a community mandate for implementing the type of access gains for off-road cyclists and visitors with accessibility needs that the 2016 RTMP sought to achieve.
Please sign-and-share the Trails 2035 Petition. The petition starts with you; it doesn’t stop with your signature. Share with like-minded friends, family, colleagues and neighbors who value addressing unmet public goods of greater access for everyone!
The Petition Count Cleared 1,200 Signers
Let’t go for 5,000 signatures and build a community mandate, affirming that Better Trails | Greater Access is a community wide priority.
You can be part of that change. When signing the petition, be sure to provide your full name, email address and zip code, helping ensure the integrity of the petition log.
We respect your privacy. Only the District Superintendent will see your contact information.
Why Sign-and-Share the Trails 2035 Petition?
MDTA's Trails 2035 Strategic Plan aims to:
Increase bike-legal access from 18% to 47% of Mount Diablo State Park’s total singletrack trail mileage (excludes fire roads)
Build two new ADA-compliant trails for families and wheelchairs or adaptive devices
Repair 50 miles of long-unmaintained trails
WHYs from the first 1,200 Petition Signers
“I’ve been riding Mt. Diablo trails for 30 years! Being on the dirt is so much safer for cyclists and cars alike. Please, please, please expand the off-road trails available to cyclists and make our mountain a better place for all!” - Dianne
“I believe increasing access to park trails will increase utilization and appreciation of the park by a broader cross section of the surrounding community. This, in turn, will increase support for the park when needed.” - Gary
“We Love Mount Diablo; it needs to continue being accessible to mountain biking and ADA.” - DeeAnn
“Mount Diablo Trails Alliance is so so important to our family, particularly our 13 year old son who loves to ride and appreciates the serenity nature brings him. This is an opportunity for the community to come together.” - Maranda
“We should be proving more opportunities to recreate outside — not less.” - Meredith
More Awesome WHYs from the Petition Signers
“We live near the state park and my children love hiking and biking the trails. I’m all for planning that will give them more opportunity for healthy and safe activities.” - Allison
“Trails aren’t just for hiking.” - Sebastian
“More trails for bikes is great for kids and family mental health.” - Caron
“Mountain bikers are the second largest user group in the park yet still have access to a very low percentage of single track trails. It is time to increase the access for bikes.” - Vernon
