Season Three Kicks Off with a Bang; Get Ready for Trails 2035 Launch
On Saturday, November 15, Mount Diablo Trails Alliance (MDTA) in partnership with California State Parks (CSP) supported another successful Dig Day at Mount Diablo State Park.
A Big Turnout and Bigger Impact
With little advance notice, 52 amazing volunteers of all ages and backgrounds participated at the Devil’s Slide Dig Day, making the trail more accessible and durable for years to come.

As a proud partner in the Shared Stewardship model, MDTA is grateful for the service, dedication and teamwork of the volunteers who donated their time on a weekend day. Time is precious and fleeting, and to give in a way that improves the trail conditions for other park visitors is truly inspirational.
More Dig Days to be Released Soon
CSP plans to announce the remainder of Dig Day Season Three’s schedule by December 1.
There will be one Dig Day held per month in January, February, March and April 2026.

Trails 2035 Strategic Plan
Later this month, MDTA will launch its Trails 2035 Strategic Plan (Trails 2035). Over the next 10 years, key goals include:
1) Servicing 50 miles of trails at Mount Diablo State Park
2) Securing 10 miles of singletrack trails for bike friendly access via the change-in-use (CIU) process
3) New construction of two ADA Compliant trails – one on the middle mountain and one on the lower mountain
4) Launch a Responsible Recreation educational campaign – it takes all of us to protect the positive experiences that trails provide visitors for so many reasons while also protecting the park’s ecological and cultural resources
Got Funds?
Trails 2035 and its important goals will require charitable donations and grants, especially to support:
1) Trail maintenance in rare plant species zones
2) The change in use process
3) New trail construction
Rare plant surveys and CEQA studies are expensive requirements to help make all of these important goals become a reality.
With the help of donations from people like you, the hurdles of resource constraints at the state level will not get in the way of making the trails more welcoming and accessible to as many park visitors as possible.
More Trails 2035 details to follow in the coming weeks.
Thanks for your partnership and support!
